"Am I Not A Man And A Brother?"

This was the slogan used by the 18th century abolitionist to awaken the conscience of a wicked nation. The symbol of a black slave with his chains raised up was meant to remind the apathetic public that those whose right of liberty had been transgressed were their fellow men and brothers.

Perpetrators of atrocious evils have always used the same strategy: denying their victims of their humanity. So long as they can deny that those whom they are oppressing are humans, they can sear their conscience. Thus, it is the duty of abolitionists in all ages to fulfill their prophetic duties, to remind the culture that those oppressed are fellow humans, fellow image-bearers, and fellow neighbors. 

Just like victims of slavery were deprived of their humanity, having been labeled with dehumanizing terms, such as chattel & property, so too the pre-born are deprived of their humanity, having been labeled with dehumanizing terms, such as parasite & clump of cells.

As abolitionists, we must call out these demonic tactics of depriving fellow image bearers of their humanity. We must say: these oppressed people are humans and your neighbors.
