"What is the chief end of man? Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy him forever." Our forefathers, the framers of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, were wise men who understood that the end for which God created the world was for his own glory. God's chief purpose in his work of creation and providence is his own name and inward glory being made known to his people.
So too the chief and ultimate end in our fight to abolish abortion is not necessarily to save human life, though that is one of the main purposes in our fight, rather, the chief end of our effort to abolish abortion is to glorify God. That is, his eternal excellencies, his loveliness, his righteousness, his justice, and his kindness being made known to all peoples. And how does one perceive and enjoy God's eternal glory which has existed from eternity past? One may enjoy the glory of God, his Trinitarian fulness, by communion with the Father and the Son through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Just as the Lord himself puts it, "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." And again, "And this is eternal life, that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." As one may see, the glory of God being emanated is not different than God himself being emanated to his people, for what is emanated is none other than God himself in the person of the Holy Spirit, and what is communicated is none other than the Father and the Son. As one communes with the Father and the Son, one will perceive that God is truly lovely, truly just, truly righteous, and truly kind. The abolitionist movement exist to make known the name and the excellencies of this God.
So what is the chief end of the abolitionist movement? To glorify God and enjoy him forever.
Why do we strive to end abortion? Because God is worthy.
